About JWT Tokens

What is a JWT?

JSON Web Token (JWT) is a compact, URL-safe means of representing claims to be transferred between two parties.

JWTs consist of three parts separated by dots: Header.Payload.Signature

Standard Claims

  • sub (Subject): The subject of the JWT
  • iss (Issuer): Who issued the JWT
  • aud (Audience): Who the JWT is intended for
  • exp (Expiration): When the JWT expires
  • iat (Issued At): When the JWT was issued
  • nbf (Not Before): When the JWT becomes valid
  • jti (JWT ID): Unique identifier for the JWT

Security Note

This tool only decodes JWT tokens for inspection. It does not validate signatures or verify the authenticity of tokens. Always verify JWT signatures in your application using the appropriate secret or public key.
